    Distinguished Member of Technical Staff

    System Architect - LambdaRouter, All-Optical Switch (1999 - 2002)

  • Led control systems re-architecture team in the specification of new control hardware with a 50% cost reduction and ten times performance improvement based on PICMG 2.16 and related standards
  • Proposed, designed and championed a new system startup configuration providing a 40% footprint reduction and commensurate cost reduction
  • Continued to provide extensive support of the product development by continuing to develop internal websites, maintaining mailing lists and participating in all forms of internal and customer documentation reviews. Committed to the change control process as a means to achieve product quality and shortened development intervals
  • Authored and offered numerous presentations including introductions to the system architecture and read-outs on development activities
  • Designed, developed and tested seven backplane designs and shelf configurations for the system architecture, the last four designs required only one design cycle before going to production
  • Led the hardware integration testing effort for the latest system releases, resolving cross-disciplinary issues and bugs, developing tests and test documentation following ISO 9001 approved process. The testing provided the initial inputs into project Telcordia-NEBS compliance activities

Backplane Designer - BandWidth Manager, Digital Cross-Connect System (1996-1999)

  • Designed, developed and tested five backplane designs for the system architecture, these designs required state-of-the-art thickness (400 mils), size (24 in. x 36 in.) and for one design developed a patented (# 6154373 ) multi-level design
  • Co-chair of a multi-project supporting diversity team which developed, organized and executed a yearly offsite diversity activity
  • Provided extensive support of the product development team by developing team websites, documenting status meeting, participating in all forms of documentation
